Caber House explained
- The word ‘caber’ is derived from the Gaelic term ‘cabar’, meaning a beam or rafter. The ridge beam in a traditional Scottish house used a ‘caber’ to support the roof rafters, and smaller caber beams to hold down the roof. Our name speaks to our Scottish heritage, and our respect and connection for the natural world; reflecting both tradition and the principles of simplicity and down-to-earth design that we espouse.
- Caber House was established in 2020 by architect Colin Potter, principal of Architeco, a sustainable design specialist with RIAS Accreditation in Sustainability, and one of the first architects in the UK to receive Passivhaus Certification.

It is important to note that achieving such exacting standards does not work with a “one size fits all” approach. Instead, all of our houses can meet these standards, and each design is optimised using site-specific data so that every client gets an efficient home.
